REWARDS

MAIN NAVIGATION
Breakdown
During the course of a player’s time in Jigoku-cho, they will have the opportunity to gain rewards for their character based on their direct participation in the game. Performing substories, becoming involved in events, etc. Rewards can range from material gains, power upgrades, or actual influence within your given Faction.
How this works is by filling out the form below, and submitting a thread that is AT LEAST eight (8) comments from your character (aka the length of an average activity check requirement in this game) that shows them participating, and indicating whether it is a substory or event. The thread submitted does not have to be from the month you choose to use it for a reward. If a thread was used for AC, it cannot be used for Reward points. Inbox threads cannot be used for rewards, either.
Each qualified thread will count for a certain number of points. Non-plot relevant substory and event participation will equal one (1) point, while plot relevant versions will net two (2) points. You can then exchange these points for a reward, listed below. You can either post threads as you do them (without cashing in your points), or post them all at once and claim a reward. If you’re just getting points, the mods will respond to your comment with how many points your character currently has, as a point of record.
As of May 1st, 2022, players are now able to combine two (2) threads with eight (8) comments by their character from generic sources to be used for a single (1) point!
So, to break that down;Threads worth 1 point; general substory and event threads Threads worth 2 points; plot relevant substory or event threads. Which substories and event prompts are plot relevant will be indicated on the substory and event posts, respectfully. Threads that are not related to substories OR in event posts can be submitted in groups of 2 in order to gain 1 point.
Every now and then, TDM threads will be Plot Relevant and thus be eligible for 2 points, but no other threads from the TDM are eligible for points.
ICly, the reward process goes a bit like this, though if anything exceptional to this happens it will be noted!
Examples
What constitutes a small power upgrade versus a large one? This is a remarkably difficult question to answer since so many different canons handle this topic in different ways, the scale of which shifts based on the context each of those powers exist within. But, for the sake of hopefully creating a general understanding of our expectations, we hope some of these outlines help.
A SMALL POWER - Physical attributes that exceed human limitations but are not extreme. Strong enough to lift a large, humanoid person above your head several times, but not lift a large vehicle easily. Fast enough to outpace an Olympic runner, but not enough to outpace a sportscar. Heightened instincts, or "spidey sense" sort of reflexes, but not clairvoyance. Conjuring spells on the level of Fire, but not Firaga (a level 1 spell vs a level 5 or more). Simple levitation, but not full flight. Teleporting across a room (or 10-15 feet), but not across a city block.
A LARGE POWER - This is where the real superhero level powers come in. Strength enough to lift weights approaching a ton (or more, with further upgrades). Speed enough to be on pace with motor vehicles. Invisibility or presence concealment. Teleportation of greater distances. More powerful and fantastic wizardry. "Sight beyond sight" sort of instincts.
In general, all of these can be upgraded with further purchases, or simply have several smaller abilities compounded, but we hope this gives an example of what is considered small vs large in terms of abilities. For enchanted or high tech items, you can apply this same logic to what those items are capable of.

⬤ 5 POINTS. A small item from home and this can be a weapon. If you have questions about what constitutes as small, please ask! If it can be held in one hand by an average human, it’s generally considered small.
⬤ 5 POINTS. A minor power upgrade, or a gift of power. If you have questions as to what counts, please let us know and we can talk it out! As a general rule, ask before you assume.
⬤ 10 POINTS. A large item from home and this can be a weapon. Again, if you have questions about this, feel free to ask! In this case, we mean things that would require more than the single hand of an average person to hold, or more complicated item or weapon.
⬤ 10 POINTS. A major power upgrade, or a gift of power. This is not what we’d consider "full power", but is approaching a more usable status. We ask that you ask questions if you’re no certain what counts for this, since we know it can all be subjective.
⬤ 10 POINTS. Boost in rank within your Faction. Your character will be given an upgrade in responsibility and expectations, but also influence and authority in terms of how NPCs react to your character. This will also impact your character’s role in the story of the game. Characters who have opted for this reward will have a ⭐ for how many boosts they’ve obtained next to their name on the taken list.
